Qiriat Anavim is a group in Jerusalem Mountains, 10 kilometers west of the city, near Abu Gosh village. In 1930's and 1940's operated as a Hagana's educational center. It was also the location of the Wanderer Unit (Hanodedet), a unit established in the 1936-39 riots by Yitzhak Sadeh and Eliyahu Ben Hur. The unit was the first to "get out of the settlement's fence", the first to take initiative actions against Arab gangs.
