Al - Qastal was an Arab village west of Jerusalem, which had been an important post during the War of Independence, for its strategic location at the top of the mountain above the main road to Jerusalem. In the difficult battles that took place in the area, the village exchanged hands several times, until the Palmach eventually captivated it.
