The sector of kibbutz Malkia, on the northern border, served for generations a central entrance from Lebanon to the Galilee. For this very reason the general staff of IDF decided to take the area, the eve of the Declaration of Independence, in mid May 1948 and prevent an invasion from Lebanon.
