Haganah Historical Archive

The archive is located at 'Beit Eliyahu Golomb' in Tel-Aviv, home of the 'Haganah Museum and Haganah Membership Organization. The Haganah historical archive is among the archives belonging to the Defense Office.
The Haganah historical archive features an extensive, rare material pertaining to the history of the Jewish Defense Forces from the first Zionist settlement in Israel and until the War of Independence, with an emphasis on the history of the Haganah organization.

The material includes writings, photographs, maps, manifests and testimonials; the archive also features a rich and diverse library.
Most of the archival material is open to the public. Over 1000 browsers visit the archive each year, among which are pupils, students, researchers and other interested parties. The archive staff receives many inquiries in writing and over the phone.

The archive staff is trained to continuously absorb new archival materials, handling the existing collection and serving visitors and inquirers. The archive also deals with other fields, among which are: publishing of the magazine, "Pages from the Slik," which features topics and events from the history of the Haganah while using various historical sources kept in the archive.
Initiating, supporting and publishing academic papers pertaining to the security aspects in the history of the Jewish Yishuv and the Haganah.
Developing and running the "History Blossoms" project that provides a unique annual enrichment program in history as an extra-curricular class at "Rishonim" High school in Herzliya.

The archive is open on Sunday, Monday and Thursday between 08:00-16:00, and on Tuesday between 08:00-18:00; The archive is closed On Friday and Saturday.
